A quick guide to FibreGuard fabric’s comprehensive standards and testing.
To guarantee ultimate cleanability, stain-on-stain removal, wash after wash, FibreGuard has developed a unique set of testing criteria. Every FibreGuard fabric is tested by our in-house independent and fully accredited Laboratory, Labotex.
In total 17 different stains are applied to the fabric which must be removable under a range of different conditions. All common accidental household stains need to be easy to remove, even after the stain has been left on the fabric for several hours. To ensure lasting performance, FibreGuard fabrics are tested after washing multiple times, this confirms that the FibreGuard properties won’t diminish after washing and are permanent.
We’re talking oily, greasy stains like:
You can clean gloopy stains off of FibreGuard fabrics too, such as:

PROVEN EXCELLENCE THROUGH MECHANICAL TEXTILE TESTING
FibreGuard fabrics are rigorously tested by our in-house, fully accredited laboratory, as well as external independent labs to ensure that they’re durable, reliable, and of consistently high quality.
Once our fabrics comply with our comprehensive testing criteria, they will receive the FibreGuard stamp of approval so you can rest assured that this fabric will perform to the highest standards.
MARTINDALE & WYZENBEEK WEAR RESISTANCE (EN 14465, ASTM D4157)
FibreGuard fabrics are thoroughly assessed to guarantee they are durable and hard wearing. All of our fabrics are tested for resistance to wear and abrasion, achieving excellent Martindale and Wyzenbeek results.
PILLING & BRUSH PILLING (ISO 12945-2, ASTM D 3511)
The pilling and brush pilling tests evaluate how the surface of our fabrics will look and perform after prolonged use. Our team follow this testing method to ensure our fabrics stay looking as good as new for longer.
COLOUR FASTNESS TO LIGHT (ISO 105-B02)
All FibreGuard fabrics are colourfast which means they will not fade when exposed to light. We test according to the international standard to ensure the fabric colour maintains its original hue and intensity.
WASHABILITY (ISO 3759)
Our fabrics meet a precise set of criteria as outlined by the International Standards Organisation for assessing dimensional change in textiles after washing. FibreGuard fabrics are fully washable at a range of temperatures and methods.
Our fabrics will retain their original dimension, aspect, stability, colour, and beauty, wash after wash. Please refer to fabric sample for recommended care instructions.
FIRE RETARDANT (FR) COMPLIANCE
FibreGuard fabrics comply with a range of fire retardant standards such as; CAL 117, FMVSS, NFPA 260, BS58852 source 0, and more. FR compliance varies from collection to collection, and requirements vary from country to country, so please refer to fabric sample for applicable standards.
